Biography
Roberto Budicin was born in Trieste in 1980.
A pupil of Walter Falzari and his father Sergio, a wildlife painter, he began studying the masters of the past at a young age. Starting with Titian, then moving on to Velázquez and later to nineteenth-century painters such as John Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla and Anders Zorn, Budicin spent many years experimenting with techniques and materials in order to achieve the nuances, effects and harmonies that characterise his paintings. Between 2007 and 2011, he began exhibiting his works in group exhibitions and, subsequently, aware of the solid pictorial tradition that distinguishes his hometown (with its greatest exponents between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries), Budicin decided to devote himself entirely to the craft of landscape painter and portraitist. It is in Trieste that he finds inspiration for his paintings: from the views of the city overlooking the sea, the local beaches, the woods and the countryside of the plateau. In addition to this, the mountains and nearby Venice complete the set of subjects that the painter prefers and loves to depict in his paintings.
